Dr. Michael Paul is CEO of MARAbio. Prior to MARAbio, Michael co-founded Lineagen, Inc., where he served as its President, CEO, and Director since inception in 2006 through acquisition in 2020.  During his 14 years with Lineagen, Michael built the company from 2 people to 135, raised over $60M in venture capital and venture debt financing, and launched a commercial service that provided comprehensive clinical genetic diagnostic testing and counseling to more than 40,000 individuals and families affected with autism and other disorders of childhood development to.

Michael has been recognized as a leading venture entrepreneur being a finalist for E&Y’s 2018 “Entrepreneur of the Year” in Healthcare (Utah Region), appointed to the Steering Committee for the Utah Technology Industry Commission by then-Governor Michael O. Leavitt, and was Vice Chairman for the Utah Technology Council. MountainWest Capital Network honored Lineagen as one of the “Utah 100 Winners” which recognized the state’s fastest growing companies, ranking Lineagen at #35.

Prior to joining Lineagen, he was President & Chief Operating Officer of Lineagen Research Corporation, Vice President of Business Development at Huntsman Biotechnology Corporate, and Director of Strategic Development / Intellectual Property Management at NPS Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Paul has also worked at the University of Utah Technology Transfer Office, where he participated in the marketing of University inventions to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. He is a licensed patent agent of the United States Patent & Trademark Office, earned a B.A. from Colby College, and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Utah.
